Terms of Use

1. Services and Scope

Crispinbrooks provides historical book restoration, paper conservation, and archival binding services as described on our service pages. All work is performed by master conservators using traditional methods, including non-destructive optical spectroscopy, organic wheat starch adhesives, and structural spine sewing. We do not guarantee outcomes beyond the specific treatments agreed upon in writing.

2. Client Responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate information about the item's history, prior treatments, and storage conditions. Items must be delivered in a condition that allows safe handling. We reserve the right to refuse service if an item poses a health risk or cannot be treated without causing further damage.

3. Limitations of Liability

Our liability is limited to the value of the service provided. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, inherent vice (e.g., brittle paper, unstable inks), or loss caused by events outside our control, including natural disasters, theft, or shipping delays. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount paid for the specific treatment.

4. Termination and Cancellation

Either party may terminate a service agreement with written notice. If you cancel before work begins, any deposit is refundable. If work has started, you are responsible for costs incurred up to the cancellation date. We may terminate service if you fail to provide accurate information or if the item cannot be treated as agreed.

5. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
